11 March 2017

Saturday of the 1st week of Lent, 11 March

From today’s gospel reading:

“’You have learnt how it was said: you must love your neighbour and hate your enemy. But I say this to you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you’”

Matthew 5: 43

Over the weeks of Lent, we are introducing you to a number of the refugee friends JRS accompanies. We invite you to walk alongside them and love them as your neighbour.

How will you respond to God’s call to love your enemy?

Florence’s Story – Part 7

Florence is still awaiting a decision from the Home Office as to whether she will be formally recognised as a refugee. Her faith remains central to her life and is a huge source of strength for her.

Florence’s message to you is one of ‘love and respect’ – to listen to one another and love everyone.

Donate to JRS UK whilst you shop!

You can help raise money for JRS anytime you shop on-line through Give as you Live.

Over 3,000 on-line retailers will give a donation to JRS UK every time you make a purchase through Give as you Live.

This income provides valuable resources, allowing us to set-up smaller projects for our refugee friends to participate in – like photography and writing workshops.

It’s easy to register with Give as you Live – its the gift that gives twice.
