“When I arrived in the UK, I struggled: my solicitors didn’t make much progress with my case, so I lived in destitution for years, and was held in immigration detention twice. Nearly a decade after I arrived, I had nearly given up on my asylum case. Luckily, my friends hadn’t given up, and through their support I met JRS UK.
From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed not as a burden, but as a human being. They gave me tea, a warm coat, toiletries, and money so I could buy essentials. JRS UK is also part of the National Free Wills Network – which can arrange for a local solicitor local to draw up a will that reflects your wishes, at no cost to you.
