Gift Aid it

Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities to reclaim tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer, which means your donations to JRS UK will be worth 25% more to us at no extra cost to you.

If you Gift Aid your donations we can claim back from the government 25p for every £1 you donate to JRS UK. This additional income really does make a big difference, so please don’t forget to Gift Aid your donations if you are a UK tax payer.

How to Gift Aid your donations?
You can download our Gift Aid Declaration Form and post to: JRS UK, Hurtado Jesuit Centre, 2 Chandler Street, London E1W 2QT

What we need to claim Gift Aid

• Your full name and home address
• A donation made from a personal bank or building society account
• For you to be paying income tax or capital gains tax which at least equals the amount the JRS UK will claim in the appropriate tax year (6 April one year to 5 April the next).  This is currently 25p for every £1 you give.
• Using the declaration form, we can claim Gift Aid on all your donations in the last 4 years and all future donations

Remember: Once you have become a Gift Aid donor, please let us know if you stop paying tax or if you change your name or address so that we can update our records.

The Jesuit Refugee Service is an international Catholic organisation set up in 1980 by Fr. Pedro Arrupé SJ as a spiritual and practical response to the plight of refugees at that time. Sadly our mission to accompany, to serve and to plead the cause of refugees and forcibly displaced people is needed now more than ever.  As we look to the future, in a society where politics is increasingly hostile towards migrants, we want to ensure we are able to maintain our welcome to refugees for the long-term as they rebuild their lives.  We need you to help us.

JRS UK started when Bernard Elliott, a Jesuit Brother, who died in 2012, established a system of support for Vietnamese refugees. Bernard’s legacy was to show us how to respond to the person in front of us with friendship, generosity and kindness.

Since then volunteers and the staff of JRS have welcomed, supported and stood alongside vulnerable refugees who find themselves left destitute or detained by the asylum process. Our work in the UK alongside refugees through our day centre and detention visiting gives a lifeline of friendship and practical support to around 250 people each month.  But we couldn’t do anything without the generosity of our supporters and friends.  We want to be available week in week out, until a refugee is able to start their own new life in this country. Gifts in Wills help us to plan ahead, meet needs as they develop and support as many people as we can.
