Have you always wanted to run a marathon? JRS UK has places for the 2023 London Marathon!
Do you watch the London Marathon each year and feel inspired to give it a go yourself? This is the perfect opportunity to tick an item off your bucket list and raise money for a good cause all in one go!
We are now open to applications for the London Marathon 2023. We’ll be with you every step of the way as you train for the marathon and reaching your £2,000 fundraising target, with the money you raise going straight to accompanying destitute refugees and asylum seekers in the UK.
Run the London Marathon for JRS UK on Sunday 23rd April 2023
The money you raise will go directly to supporting destitute refugees and asylum seekers in the UK.
JRS UK relies on donations from individuals to support our work with destitute asylum seekers through our Centre in Wapping and hardship fund, assisting refugee friends with their basic needs. We provide regular hardship grants to enable people to travel across London to access essential services, to attend immigration, medical and legal appointments, and to buy everyday essential items they may need. Alongside food and clothing, we provide essential toiletries including soap, shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, and sanitary towels.
Hardship grants, food and toiletries are given to destitute refugees, who do not receive benefits, have no right to work, and no access to government asylum support. We also offer small grants for educational needs and sometimes assist with exceptional needs.
Read what previous runners have to say about the experience:
“The atmosphere was electric. The crowds carried me. If someone is interested in doing it, I’d say it is a commitment and a sacrifice. You sacrifice a Saturday or Sunday for your long runs, but it is worth it! Maybe speak to me in four days, but right now it is worth it!” – Andrea
“I’m excited about seeing my friends and family and other supporters from JRS along the course and also the atmosphere of everyone coming together for the race.” – Rhiannon
