Join us for the second of our Accompaniment in Action events where we will be joined by Michael Tarnoky, our Senior Legal Officer, and Bernadette Smith, our Legal Caseworker, as we discuss the asylum system here in the UK. We will talk about how the system works, some of the difficulties our friends face when going through it and have the opportunity for you to ask the questions you might have about the process of seeking safety in the UK.
Join us from 18:30 – 19:30 on Wednesday 28th October on Zoom for a discussion with Michael and Bernadette.

We know that whilst there are many stories about refugees featured on the news, there is very often misunderstanding about how people can claim asylum and seek recognition as refugees here in the UK. We hope that this session will help you understand more about the often complex system and our friends’ experiences of it. Michael and Bernadette are the staff behind our Legal Project and they accompany our friends by offering support with their often complex asylum cases.
We are keen to answer the questions you might have and it would be great to know some of these in advance, so please use the space on the registration form or please email them to Nick: nick.hanrahan@jrs.net
This will be the next event in our monthly series known as Accompaniment in Action, which will see us take a closer look at the various ways that JRS accompanies our refugee friends and they us. We will be speaking to members of staff, volunteers and hear from our refugee friends. Join us for this series to find out more about JRS as we begin to celebrate our 40th year. You can find out about the other events in the series here.
