JRS are hosting an evening event in Folkestone to launch the report – Napier Barracks: the inhumane reality
Author of the report, Dr Sophie Cartwright will present the highlights of the research alongside insights from Sally Hough who has run the Napier Drop-In Centre over the past few years, which has done so much to help the residents of Napier. We will hear from people who have experience of living in the asylum camp at Napier Barracks and hear more about life in this setting and its effects upon people who have fled hostilities, abuses and life-threatening situations. This will undoubtedly be the most remarkable part of this event.
This will be a chance for members of the local community, refugees, civic authorities, and other NGOs to meet together.
The event is open to local residents and all those who care about the treatment of asylum seekers and the way they are impacted by our asylum system and current government policies. The event will also be streamed online for those who cannot physically attend.
We hope this evening of personal encounter will enhance the understanding of people’s experience of the intentional inhumanity of holding people in military barracks and other forms of hostile and out-of-town accommodation.
You are most welcome to this event, please register your place to attend in person or online.
