Lenten Appeal 2020

We launched our Lent Appeal to support the vital work of our Day Centre

Lenten Appeal 2020

We have launched our Lent appeal for 2020 urgently asking you to donate to JRS UK and help provide the ongoing needs of the Day Centre.

We rely heavily on gifts of generosity from our faithful volunteers, and those who are kind enough to donate. This holy season of Lent is a time when we are encouraged to reflect and make resolutions in prayer, fasting and charity.

It is thanks to your generosity that the JRS Day Centre is open each Thursday to accompany more than 200 refugee friends each month. Providing small cash travel grants for bus passes, toiletries, a hot meal prepared by volunteers, and a place to relax, it provides a safe and comfortable place for those left completely destitute by the UK asylum system.

A safe and comfortable space is rare for many of our friends who are homeless and whose accommodation often changes unpredictably. Our staff and volunteers are available to chat with our friends at the Day Centre, providing hospitality, support and advice.

Throughout the week, arts, drama and cooking groups complement the Day Centre with classes and opportunities to learn a skill, express themselves and feel empowered during a difficult and overwhelming period.

It’s not just financial it’s emotional and psychological help is [what] I get from JRS. It’s like a family.”

Without your help, activities at the Day centre are impossible to continue.

Please donate today to ensure JRS UK can continue to accompany, serve and advocate for our refugee friends through the Day Centre.
