What next?

It’s now time to set up your JustGiving page to start fundraising!

Once we’ve received your registration fee, we’ll also send you details on how to finalise your official spot in the Royal Parks Half.

Tips for setting up your JustGiving profile:

  • Why are you running? Sharing your story and your motivation for running with refugees will help your loved ones understand why you’re fundraising. JustGiving have a Story Enhancer tool in case you need any help running, and we’re always here to help you craft your message too!
  • How is your preparation going? Let supporters know how you are doing by updating your page often – whether it’s your running training, what you’re learning about refugees & asylum seekers, or your latest visit to JRS UK – sharing what you’ve been up to motivates people to donate!
  • What was your latest run like? Why not connect your Strava, Fitbit, or other running account to your page?
  • Any support at work? Some organisations offer corporate matching, meaning that anything you fundraise will be matched by your employer. Why not look into this – you could be doubling your donation!

As a #TeamJRS runner you will receive:

  • Regular e-mails containing fundraising advice and updates on our work
  • One-to-one support from our dedicated staff member
  • An awesome JRS UK running vest
  • A team of runners to connect with to form a community of support
  • Opportunity to visit our centre and see the impact of your support
  • Fantastic cheering support and snacks along the course

Where will the money I raise go?

All the money you raise will go directly towards supporting destitute refugees in the UK.

JRS UK provides food, clothing, and other essentials like mobile phone top-ups, nappies, and sanitary produces. We also provide accommodation, advice, and legal support to help people navigate the asylum system.

We serve refugees of all faiths and none from more than eighty countries, who are banned from working and unable to access government asylum support.

JRS UK relies upon the donations and fundraising efforts of our amazing supporters to continue accompanying refugees in an increasingly difficult environment.

Your £350 fundraising target could help us deliver

  • Essential toiletries for 21 of our refugee friends for the month
  • Provide 17 hardship grants so refugee friends can afford food, pay for travel to medical and legal appointments, and do laundry.
  • 58 hot meals at our social drop-in
  • More nights of safe and stable accommodation for refugees at risk of homelessness
  • English classes to help people as they rebuild their lives in the UK
