Since its inception, JRS UK has always concerned itself with the physical and mental wellbeing of our refugee friends (we even won a Health and Wellbeing Award in 2018) but this care has never been more important than during the pandemic. Mental health has become a particularly acute issue, as isolation has taken its toll.
From ensuring that the JRS Shop has a variety of nutritious pantry staples, fresh produce and essential toiletries, to hosting vaccine clinics and reflexology and acupuncture sessions. JRS UK tries to ensure that our refugee friends’ physical health is maintained despite their often-challenging daily lives.
JRS UK also provides mental health support through our network of trained volunteer be-frienders, who provide one-on-one emotional aid to our refugee friends, including those in detention.
And while some of these goods and services are provided by our generous partners and volunteers, JRS UK relies on donations to purchase healthy food and help run vaccine clinics. Your donations also support our Access to Healthcare work, which advocates for continued public health access for refugee friends.
On World Health Day, please consider helping our refugee friends stay as healthy as possible by donating through the link below.
